is occasionally mentioned, and Infamous Second Son takes place in Seattle.
So yeah, in my opinion, InFamous 1 just plays better. The series takes place in the present-day United States with real and alternate versions of real cities such as the setting of Infamous, Empire City, which resembles New York City and the setting of Infamous 2, New Marais, which resembles New Orleans ( Infamous: Festival of Blood also takes place in this city). In 2 you can quickly throw out a bunch and replenish them from almost the beginning. InFamous 1 did get that overpowered lightning storm but only at the end and at massive energy consumption. Then there is also the fact that the difficulty balancing is fucked in InFamous 2 because of all those super attacks (tornado, drain, ice attack) that you can replenish very easily. InFamous 2 made design decisions that actively lessened the feeling of flow by adding a weapon switching menu, zooming in the camera so you have less movement control while shooting.
I'm saying this all the time, but it's little things like the camera not zooming in when you aim or all your powers being usable with the controller without going into a menu. InFamous 1 is for me the better game, at least from a design perspective. Here is a bit of a copy paste of a comment I made earlier, but I feel like from a core design perspective, InFamous 1 takes the cake. I love all the games so, so much, but Second Son is always gonna be my favorite, I think. After he got powers, everyone just doubled down on ostracizing him. Gandhi wasn't 'normal'."ĭelsin never fit the mold, even before he got powers. Here's the line that always sticks with me: "Just because it's not normal doesn't mean it needs a cure, okay? Van Gogh wasn't 'normal'. The constant struggle of: "are you safe to be around?" "Can I trust my own brother?" "Can I let these people walk free?" "Will these people hurt me or others?" It's such a grounded story. Reggie grounds him and brings into perspective the human side of the inFamous games. Delsin is just a vandal who became a conduit out of nowhere. Second Son is a bit more "realistic", for lack of a better term. The first two games are the fantastical aspects of these stories. Cole is a superhero/supervillain with world-saving (or world-destroying) actions. He has Zeke, but Zeke isn't a grounding force, he's a hypeman. Cole has no real grounding, in my opinion. Any removal of content can be appealed by messaging the moderators.Īll of them, including First Light, are pure gold, but what I like about Delsin is that he's the every-man.
